Large Pumice Stone
These pumice stones make a fantastic addition to small world play and stem play.
Pumice is a special kind of rock that is formed from volcanic lava. When a volcano erupts, hot molten lava shoots out and gets mixed with gas bubbles. As the lava cools down quickly, those gas bubbles get trapped inside and create holes in the rock, making it very lightweight and full of tiny pockets of air.
The result is pumice, a light and porous rock that feels rough to the touch. It is often grey or light brown in colour and has a spongy texture.
These large pumice stones are between 7 and 12 cm diameter (approximately).
